Arriving as pro team rider Shane O’Neill’s first signature mode, this dark grey edition of the Nike SB Shane Shoes has a super clean look that uses a low key colour palette to allow the custom details to take centre stage. Super smooth suede has been selected for the single piece toe vamp which sits below the custom lace fastening where perforation holes have been added underneath for ventilation. On either side of the foot the same suede has been used again to help keep the colour matched laces in place and black outlined Swoosh ticks have been printed on top signature branding. The suede continues around the back of the heel to a durable canvas heel patch. Allowing you to choose how you fasten the shoe, the lacing system is different to conventional models and the option is yours whether you go for a traditional method or use the durable ghillie loops. The tongue is made from textile and a custom suede label wraps around the top edge with a black printed graphic showing the team riders initials incorporated within an earthy sun-inspired logo and ‘Shane’ lettering underneath. Within the shoe a textile lining runs throughout and a Zoom Air unit has been added within the heel to help protect the foot from impact. As a remastered design, the rubber has been thinned out in key areas and the gum outsole has an extended rubber toe bumper that adds durability around the front of the foot whilst a consistent flick is supported by slightly higher taping between the midsole and uppers.
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia Shane O’Neill started skateboarding when he was 10 and was signed to Nike SB just three years later. Known for his highly technical style which earned him a tied, highest score ever at the 2013 Street League competition with a score of 9.9, it’s been a long time coming for the rider to get his own signature model but it’s been delivered in style with an array of custom features. Using his own experiences of wearing a number of skate shoes since he was a teenager, O’Neill set out to create a great skate and everyday shoe.
