By Parra is an Amsterdam based clothing and accessories brand founded by artist and designer, Pieter ‘Parra’ Janssen. Originally a pro skater - sponsored by Colorblind - Janssen’s design flare shone through and he became the brands art director, leading him to design the logo and a selection of skate decks.

Emerging onto the scene in the late 91’s by designing posters for parties and venues in Amsterdam, it wasn’t long until Parra started designing clothing. His first label, Rockwell, launched in 2002 and specialised in t-shirts with large custom graphic prints. The brand progressed in 2004 to release two collections a year which included sweaters, jackets, hats and homewares. The creation of Rustico The Great (Parra’s distinctive beaked human character) in 2006 helped to elevate the brand and Janssen’s presence within the art world.

Notable collaborations with the likes of Nike, Vans, Converse, Etnies and Alife have helped to increase the fan base for Parra’s distinctive bright design style. Having now shown in galleries

ranging from L.A to Brussels and within the streets of Parra’s home in Amsterdam, Pieter’s style is widely admired and recognised through the multi media outlets of sculptures, skate decks, canvas prints, street art and clothing.

One of his latest ventures, by Parra, provides a wearable backdrop for his artwork. The range of t-shirts, outerwear and homewares carry the signature colourways and illustrative style of Pieter, but they aren’t just printed onto any old material. It’s clear there has been careful consideration when it comes to production for the stock. Eco pre washes, custom silhouettes and high quality silk screen prints provide crystal clear graphics that show the artwork to its very best. Some items are crafted in Belgium, Portugal and others in L.A. The Still Life With Plant Sherpa Fleece Sweatshirt is a key style for autumn/winter 18 whilst the Mountains of 1988 graphic shows the progressive nature of Pieter’s creativity.

More recently Pieter launched Tired skateboards, a company focusing on skate decks with apparel designs on the side.
