2020 has been kicked off with the Rowan Pro, a new shoe model designed in collaboration with pro team rider Rowan Zorilla. In tune with the riders own board style, the design offers a combination of ‘90s styling with new innovative details such as a sickSTICK rubber outsole, DURACAP reinforced rubber underlays and a PopCush footbed. In the celebration of the designs release, Flatspot teamed up with Vans to hold the fourth Civic Jam within an unused space within the heart of the Civic Centre in Plymouth, the hub for skateboarding in the city. Making the most of the pop-up skate park designed by the Vans crew, the day included skating, photography and prizes. You can read more about the Vans x Flatspot Civic Jam 004 over at the Flatspot blog.

As the first signature Elijah Berle arrivals, the initial release in 2019 has been followed by fresh colourways that feature new WaffleControl engineering and capture the Santa Monica skater’s roots and personal taste. Throughout the year and into the new decade, continuous improvements and upgrades have been made across core silhouettes, including material experimentation across the Kyle Walker and Gilbert Crockett Pro models to ensure the best in athletic performance without forgetting classic Vans styling.

Paying homage to four skating icons - John Cardiel, Chris Pfanner, Jeff Grosso and Tony Trujillo - the Vans x Anti Hero project included selective pro models with additional attributes that individually highlighted each skater.

Few brands in skateboarding can claim such legacy as Vans; the Californian born company is synonymous with the laid-back skate vibe, which of course is something that is embedded deep in their origins. The first Vans store opened its doors in 1966, founded by none other than brothers Paul and Jim Van Doren. Originally the Van Doren Rubber company, known for creating #44 deck shoes which later became the Authentic and was re-released as the Vans Authentic 44 DX Anaheim Factory, which emulated the original.

Continually pushing new pro footwear, whilst also keeping their classics contemporary with a selection of Vans Pro Skate Classics comprised of the Vans Authentic, Old Skool, Half Cab, Sk8-Hi and the Slip-On. Vans encompass modern, innovative footwear technology through their original WaffleControl, Wafflecup, Duracap and UltraCush features.
