Nike SB Stefan Janoski

2019 marks ten years of the Nike SB Stefan Janoski range, which continues to supply specifically crafted footwear built using reliable detailing and materials aimed directly at skaters. In celebration of this Nike SB are releasing lots of Janoski styles throughout the year. The first to arrive was the Janoski Mid Crafted, available in two colourways with re-worked hairy suede uppers. Keeping the design minimalistic the uppers have been finished with a hand stitched toe and iconic OG leather laces.

Arriving shortly afterward was the long-awaited sequel to a heritage style with the Air Max Janoski 2. Keeping true to the original silhouette with updates including a sock-like, knitted upper and a brand new IP foam midsole with visible air unit. Next up was the Remastered Collection. With a strong nod to the Janoski archive, with four Janoski models featuring matching vast grey suede uppers, perforated Swoosh tick branding and durable toe pieces for a clean streamlined aesthetic. Whilst also boasting skate-ready features such as gum toe-bumpers, lightweight and flexible outsoles and larger Zoom Air units.

The rest of the year will treat us to more highly anticipated releases within the Janoski range, with a suede, multi coloured Janoski style due very soon and a revisit to the iconic mint green coloured ‘Tiffany’ palette on a black, suede Janoski featuring leather boat laces. Other memorable Stefan Janoski styles include the digi-floral design which is a firm favourite of the Flatspot team.

The story began with the introduction of the collection’s signature low-profile style, the Nike SB Stefan Janoski, which to this day remains the most prominent style and boasts a simple yet effective aesthetic, built using vulcanised construction, light perforation and strengthened uppers. Janoski was cautious to not put his name onto a design he didn’t fully believe in and after many initial samples were developed by Nike and original designer James Arizumi, the team rested on a design that bared all of the elements they deemed necessary, whilst also looking to the future of skate footwear within performance and aesthetics.
