On the Road with Push Philippines

Push Philippines is a full- circle community project dedicated to supporting skateboard communities across the Philippines.

It’s full-circle nature is manifest in its ‘donation drop’ program. Push’s donation drop program provides 800KG of donated skateboard equipment from the global skate community every year - they then distribute these donations to different skate scenes across the Philippines. A project sustained by skateboarders for skateboarders.

The Philippines is an archipelago consisting of 7,641 islands. It’s culture of hospitality, tropical climate & natural beauty make it a top destination for foreign visitors. As a skate destination, it is quite the opposite... The spots are crusty & rough, it is seldomly visited by global skate teams who have the ability to put it on the map through videos and magazines. It’s location next to the equator in South-east Asia makes skating in the heat and humidity no easy feat, particularly in the middle of the day.

The Push Philippines way merges the beauty, excitement and curiosity of the open road with strong community values – the desire & responsibility to share the ineffable power of skateboarding far and wide.

We decided to join the Push crew on a trip through Cebu, Ormoc and Dumaguete over ten days. A conventional road trip searching for spots & exploring a small taste of the Philippines’ vast archipelago’s – Stopping off at Bi-saya DIY in Dumaguete to hand out donations in true Push fashion.
