Nike SB have reissued the classic indoor football silhouette to their roster, the Nike SB Gato comes in a White / White - Metallic Gold colourway and has been crafted with leathers for the upper. Aesthetic features include a contrasting gold accented stitched Swoosh and a gum outsole to couple with the label branding and an embossed heel logo. The stitched toe design pays homage to the original, while offering you optimised durability in return, with a mini Swoosh and perforations to sign off.
Originally releasing in 2011, the Nike Gato’s sleek, minimal silhouette saw plenty of action in the futsal community, offering the perfect combination of functionality and panache. In 2013 Nike SB reissued the shoe, coming as the Nike SB Lunar Gato, offering a skate ready rendition incorporating the Swoosh’ Lunarlon footwear technology. Nike SB offering a traditional soccer silhouette to the roster reignited the era of skaters appropriating and recognising the capabilities of low profile athletic silhouettes, just think of the Dunk, Blazer and Bruin.
The Nike SB Gato in White / White - Metallic Gold boasts a tonal colour scheme, with a design that treads the line between soccer and skating, showing how Nike SB’s use of the celebrated Zoom Air definitely sits alongside the likes of running and basketball shoes. This re-release has been stripped back to the original for a clean, no nonsense finish, with meticulously subtle details in place.
Coming off the back of the collaborative Supreme drop, the Nike SB Gato is the ideal everyday skateboarding shoe, tooling you with durability and boardfeel, while housing a nostalgic athletic resurgence aesthetic.
