Constructed with textural black corduroy uppers, these Converse JP Ox Wide Wale Cord Shoes offer a retro 1970’s style aesthetic across a signature silhouette that was originally introduced for badminton. Designed for everyday wear, the low top silhouette includes a coloured matched fabric border around the ankle and the slim tongue has been cut from the same corduroy fabric. On the inner side panels silver metal eyelets have been added to increase ventilation. A white cotton lacing system ensures a secure fit, whilst the crisp white outsole below will stand up to abrasion with an additional durable front toe patch, designed with a subtle textural surface. A signature of the Jack Purcell range, a black ‘smile’ insert brings a unique character to the model and a herringbone pattern offers a high amount of grip across the outsole.
Originally designed as a badminton sneaker with a canvas upper and rubber outsole by Jack Purcell for the B.F Goodrich Company of Canada in 1935, Converse released their first JP model in the 1970’s and has remained true to the original aesthetics of the design alongside comfort driven characteristics, whilst introducing experimental fabrics each season.
