Patagonia W21: Collection Overview
Transitioning into the autumn and winter months of 2021, Patagonia’s latest W21 collection arrives here at Flatspot filled with an array of high performance apparel that’s built to complement the rapidly changing seasons. Updated Patagonia jackets, Patagonia fleeces and responsibly sourced Patagonia clothing continues to provide like minded individuals with the quality apparel and pack gear that their lifestyles deserve.
Diverging from summer cuts and lightweight fabrics toward heavier constructions and increased techwear stylings, Patagonia’s W21 release is one that remains true to the brand’s ‘build soil, capture carbon’ ethos for yet another season. Backed by their recent ‘We the Power’ campaign, their announcement of their latest Alpine Downlab clothing line and by a number of new consumable additions to their environmentally focused Patagonia Provisions subdivision, the changing seasons for Patagonia hones in on the brand’s undoubted ability to merge necessity with functionality to suit whatever weatherfront or terrain is thrown their way. New season jackets, long sleeve t-shirts and Patagonia caps arrive ahead of winter, with returning favourites once more rehashed in new fabrications to suit their cold weather requirements.
Continually loyal to the brand’s celebratory enjoyment of being immersed in nature, overhead jackets such as the split panel Patagonia Isthmus Anorak are styled with a DWR coated finish and a NetPlus® 100% post consumer recycled nylon shell for increased resiliency, whilst the full length YKK zippered Lined Isthmus Hoodie offers a more casual take on its namesake anorak. For those after increased quilted coverage, long sleeve layers such as the heavyweight 15.1oz Patagonia Down Hooded Jacket, the 600-fill power Downdrift Jacket and the recycled duck down Hi-Loft Down Hoodie are styled with increased padded filling to help lock-in warmth across the entirety of the body. Extended coverage is achieved through lengthier profiles such as the Patagonia Isthmus Parka and the H2No Performance Standard 2-layer Patagonia Lone Mountain Parka, whilst returning favourites such as the waterproof 50-denier ECONYL Patagonia Torrentshell 3L Jacket, in shades of Hot Ember, Superior Blue and Industrial Green, is designed to provide a lightweight and compact alternative that is well suited to impromptu downpours and for quick and easy use whilst travelling.
Techwear fleeces mark their comeback for winter ‘21, with Patagonia’s 100% recycled polyester Patagonia Better Sweater ¼ Zip Sweatshirt rehashed in new season fabric designs such as the New Navy Falconer Legend and in two tone Barn Red for a contrasting take on a returning all season favourite. Much like the Falconer colourway, geometric intricacies are seen across designs such as the Arctic Collage Lightweight Synchilla Snap-T Fleece and the Cottage Isle: El Cap Khaki Snap-T Fleece, whilst block tone colourings of nickel, forge grey and oatmeal heather remain true to the brand’s classic cut-and-sew remit. Full length zip ups arrive as a complement to their quarter-zip and quarter-snap counterparts, with the Reversible Bivy Down Vest a sleeveless option that combines both a recycled polyester DWR coated exterior with a high pile fleece interior for a 2-in-1 sense of practicality. Autumnal shades and earthier palettes are seen across a new season variant with the Patagonia Retro Pile Pullover Fleece, and the neutral toned Patagonia Classic Retro-X Jacket a vintage inspired silhouette that doesn’t compromise on craftsmanship nor comfort.
Well suited to indoor wear and for lighter layering, Patagonia sweaters such as the raglan sleeved Alpine Icon Regenerative Crewneck and the OG logo referencing 73 Skyline Organic Crewneck are designed to provide a midweight layer of insulatory coverage to suit, with gradient stripe hooded sweaters such as the 24oz Line Logo Ridge Stripe Uprisal Hoodie turning their attention to sportier blueprints. Classic everyday tees such as the flag labelled Patagonia P-6 Logo Responsibili-Tee T-Shirt and its pocketed P-6 Label counterpart return in traditional shades of crisp white, whilst the checkered Fjord Flannel Shirt is styled in a darkened plaid purple colouring for a contemporary twist on a traditional workwear silhouette.
Switching lightweight composures for thicker knits and extended cuts, Patagonia’s W21 collection focuses solely on functionality and insulatory coverage ahead of the colder months. Odes to their noted environmentally focused mindset are retained through the continued use of sustainable materials and mindful manufacturing methods, with new additions continuing to honour their Regenerative Revolution campaign and their endless strive to challenge all aspects of both sustainable design and ethical resourcing.
