Dickies x Jamie Foy

Inspired by the charm of the Sunshine State, the Dickies x Jamie Foy capsule collection is one that pays tribute to the team rider’s Floridian roots, his get out there and enjoy ethos and his admiration for long lasting apparel. Joining the OG workwear brand’s skate division in 2018, a year after he turned pro for Erik Ellington and Jim Greco’s Deathwish Skateboards, Jamie ‘Big Boy’ Foy’s latest pro collection for Dickies turns its attention to Cuban reference, laid back coastal stylings and a noted sense of nostalgia.

Born and raised in Deerfield Beach, Florida, 25 year old Foy is one of those rare skaters that was born with a natural ability to skate. Found bashing the front door with his sister’s skateboard in an attempt to get outside and start learning at just one years old, quick learning Foy entered his first local contest at the age four, earning himself a year's supply of free pizza for being the youngest competitor of the day. Moving to Los Angeles in 2016, the much loved skater soon came into his own, joining the Baker Boys’ Deathwish Skateboards in 2017 and earning himself Thrasher Magazine’s ‘Skater of the Year’ award that very same year. Video parts such as his solo in legendary videographer Ty Evans’ ‘The Flat Earth’ and Thrasher’s ‘Twoché’ landed around the same time, with New Balance Numeric partnering with the skater in 2018; his Floridian hometown referencing NM306 now an obvious favourite of many. Known as the handrail innovator thanks to his ‘Big Pinch’ nickname and his undoubted ability to master any handrail grind or slide to the level of high art, Foy also joined the Dickies skate crew in 2018, with recent short forms such as 2020’s ‘You Good’ edit for Red Bull Skateboarding, alongside the likes of Zion Wight and Alex Midler, arriving as a continued testament to the skater’s unbeatable skate style and his ever-growing international following.

Inspired by his skate-for-fun mantra and his love for his home state of Florida, the Dickies x Jamie Foy pro collection is assigned a ‘Havana Heights’ descriptor in honour of the 27th state’s Little Havana customs and its multicultural ties to the Republic of Cuba. Pairing Dickies’ classic Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. lineage with the brand’s regenerative skate and streetwear appeal, Jamie Foy welcomes his own signature stamp that pays homage to the state’s relaxed surf culture influence, vintage palm tree pin ups, Miami’s ageless sunset and cocktails legacy and to colourways inspired by the state’s citrus fruit stature and its coastal layout that has awarded it the only state to border both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

Merging casual comfort with signature reference, the Dickies Jamie Foy Graphic T-Shirt arrives in both a black and white colourway inspired by classic cut and sew tradition and the skater’s love for nostalgic aesthetics. Both profiles are crafted from 100% premium cotton for elevated everyday wear, with the flag labeled Dickies hemline complemented by a single left chest pocket printed with custom ‘J F’ and ‘Dickies’ domino detailing that pays subtle reference to the classic Cuban Dominoes pastime. On the back of both designs, a palm tree pin-up girl and illustrative alligator combine to pay tribute to Florida’s Palm Beach pin-up culture and the state’s Everglades National Park, with the sunset detailing a signifier of both Foy’s laid back persona and the collections coastal influence. For something with a little extra coverage, the Dickies Jamie Foy Graphic Long Sleeve T-Shirt features cuffed sleeves, a casual crew neck collar and both Cuban Domino detailing across the left chest and brushed orange ‘Dickies’ branding displayed across the full length of the left sleeve in reference to Florida's St. Augustine citrus fruit legacy.

A V-insert hemline and a full length 6 button fastening complements the classic pointed collar, whilst a single left chest pocket, branded with Dickies’ iconic flag label trim, is mirrored by intricate ‘Jamie Foy’ signature embroidery sewn above the rear yoke between the shoulders. For ultimate everyday comfort, whether at home or whilst skating, the Dickies Jamie Foy Graphic Hoodie is a heavyweight play on a traditional sportswear staple, with its signature ‘JF’ ‘Dickies’ domino chest branding and its printed Floridian decal on the reverse a tribute to both Jamie Foy and the Sunshine State’s admiration for creative expression. Cuffed sleeves, a split panel drawcord secured hood and a spacious dual entry kangaroo pocket combine for increased practicality and heat retention during cooler sessions, whilst the flag label detailing above the left cuff helps seal the design with an added ode to Dickies’ pioneering legacy.
