Commemorating the 15 year reign of figurehead team rider Dennis Busenitz, adidas partner up with the Kansas-born skater to announce the release of the adidas Busenitz Indoor Super 15 - a celebratory embodiment of Dennis’ illustrious legacy, experimental spirit and his continued contribution to the evolving and international skate scene.

Joining the adidas skate collective in 2006, the same year as its official inauguration as a skate-centric subdivision of the infamous sporting brand, Dennis Busenitz undoubtedly finds himself well placed next to long reigning masterminds such as the masterful Mark Gonzales and good friend and renowned photographer Bryce Kanights. With a legacy that no doubt helped rocket the skatewear label into success from its then-idle programme, Busenitz’s first signature release entered the game in 2009; the ‘72 Copa Mundial inspired Busenitz Pro. Now renowned for its trimmable tongue and its non-vulc cupsole, the Busenitz Pro was a release that spoke volumes for the skater’s self described ‘I like it and I’m gonna skate it’ mantra. That same year, Busenitz also partnered with co-creators and skaters Tim O’Connor and Mark Gonzales on the iconic adidas Originals ‘Skateboarding’ Nizza High collection that combined abstract artwork with a defined sense of custom creativity. Busenitz’s footprint up until 2016 was one filled with a number of exemplary releases, including the GEOFIT Busenitz Vulc, 2012’s limited edition ‘Bluesenitz’ Pro and 2015’s premium Busenitz Scheinfeld, with 2016 itself marking the commencement of many anniversary releases signed with his name.
A limited edition 10-Year pack was officially announced in 2016 and featured gold-foil variants of his founding ‘06 and ‘16 Busenitz Pro, ADV and Pure Boost profiles, whilst the accompanying ‘Up To Speed - The Story of Dennis Busenitz’ short form edit offered a glimpse into the world and works of the skater himself. Fast forward another five years to 2021, with showcases in edits such as Spitfire’s ‘Live Wire’ part, Real Skateboards’ ‘3 Up & 3rd’ and adidas’ ‘Reverb’ filling the gap alongside other timely revisions of silhouettes such as the follow up Busenitz Vulc II and Busenitz Vulc RX, the 15-Year adidas Busenitz Indoor Super 15 takes the ‘80s inspired squash court classic and updates it to stand alone as a creative memento towards one of the most lengthy team rider sponsorships of all time.
Adding to the notoriety of the already infamous adidas Busenitz franchise, the adidas Busenitz Indoor Super 15 weighs in on cult classic sports-centric influence with its core construction ultimately inspired by the iconic indoor squash sneaker from the ‘80s. Much like the performative influence siphoned from the Copa Mundial and the Samba, adidas’s reimagined Busenitz Indoor Super is a testament not only to their own pioneering invention, but to the team rider’s technical skate style and passion for progressive, archive inspired styling. With its regal black, gold and scarlet colourway styled as an ode to his signature aesthetic, the adidas Busenitz Indoor Super 15 features premium perforated pigskin suede uppers, whilst nylon overlays and a classic canvas tongue are styled with respect to tradition. A breathable mesh lining retains the design’s consideration for circulatory comfort, whilst the contoured and auxetically defined gum rubber outsole delivers ultimate board control, flex and grip regardless of assigned terrain. Gold-foil three stripe branding across each quarter is accompanied by commemorative ‘Busenitz’ branding, whilst the recessed 6 eyelet lacing system pairs well with the elasticated tongue stabilisers to provide a snug and secure fit across the arch of the foot. Custom blue and white Trefoil printed insoles complement the design, whilst the serrated ‘X’ and ‘V’ heel numerals pay tribute to the unprecedented 15-year legacy held between the visionary skater and the well loved Three Stripes brand.
