The Tower: A Chronicle of Climbing and Controversy on Cerro Torre (Hardcover)
£20.00
Kelly Cordes
Winner of the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, The Tower: A Chronicle of Climbing and Controversy has been written by climber, author and Patagonia Alpine ambassador Kelly Cordes as an ode to one of the most beautiful and compelling mountains in the world. Compelled to express the peaks’ challenges and beauty, whilst uncovering the truth behind the mystery that surrounds the summit, Cordes has included 2 16-page full colour inserts alongside topos, historical stories, memories and information that give an authentic insight into Cerro Torre.
Located in the Southern Patagonian ice field in South America, Cerro Tour was declared ‘impossible’ by the famous French alpinist Lionel Terray before allegedly being first ascended in 1959. It’s reputation has remained thanks to its beautiful but challenging peaks, turbulent weather and vertical walls. Regardless, there is a strong passion behind the region and never-ending determination from those hoping to experience the mountain in all its rawness.
