North Skateboard Magazine was born in Edinburgh in 2011, created (and still edited) by Graham Tait as an alternative to the traditional skate mag. Despite the industry favouring digital photography, Graham still shoots film which is precisely why he felt like there was room in the field for his publication. His inspirations vary but there is an obvious recurring theme of film, photography and art culture.
This adoration of traditionality transfers to the wide range of apparel and accessories the brand makes, all of which use durable mid-to-heavyweight fabrics with cut & sew production methods. Additionally all of their goods are made with the average
skateboarder in mind; classic silhouettes are stripped back from OTT branding to prioritise quality across all of their goods, instead favouring small embroidered logos. Some of their summer essentials include the corduroy camera bags (for the on-the-go shooter) and N Logo tees.
North Skateboard Magazine is released quarterly, exposing the rising and established talent that enriches the UK skate scene. The magazine includes photography taken by Tait - who has previously featured in the likes of Sidewalk - as well as being open to contribution, although strictly film.
