Refreshed with new colour tones for SS20, this gravel heather Surf Activists Uprisal Crewneck Sweatshirt from Patagonia is made from a soft blend of 10.9-oz 47.5% recycled cotton and 47.5% postconsumer recycled polyester with a touch of spandex fleece for stretch. The body has been cut to a regular fit for casual comfort and a ribbed trim wraps around the edge of the curved neckline to help retain the fit over time and allow for ease of entry. Applied using teal coloured PVC and phthalate-free inks; on the left side of the chest shows the brands surf logo of a flying fish holding Posedion’s fork with bold ‘Patagonia’ lettering above and smaller ‘Surf Activists Since 1973’ text underneath. The same design can be seen in a larger size across the shoulders. Helping to keep the fit in place wide ribbed cuffs wrap around the edge of the body and long sleeves.
Utilizing post consumer waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill, for each of these sweatshirts made 10.8 plastic bottles and 0.6 pounds of cotton scrap are put to good use which in turn saves 143 gallons of water in comparison to conventional styles. The artwork seen on the front and reverse have been inspired by Geoff McFetridge, a Los Angeles based designer that is known for his use of colour, repetition and perspective.
