Founded in 1927 in Paris by Edouard Beerens, Vetra has seen its fair share of history. Selected to make uniforms for the French Army during WWII and then assigned by the Nazis for the same purpose which Edouard directly refused to do, as a statement to the German forces he destroyed all of the company’s machinery - except for his prized buttonhole maker - and quickly fled to Le Lude in the West of France in 1940 where the company was built once more from the ground up. Using traditional fabrics such as cotton twill and favouring shades of blue which were commonly used by farmers, craftsman and rail workers throughout history, Vetra have stayed true to Edouard’s original vision and have a reputation for attention to detail, quality and finish that ensures each design stands the test of time within its construction and aesthetic.
