Our follow-up to last year’s SomeBetterDays film that featured both key coastal spot footage and clips from the team’s trip to Barcelona in 2019, our in-house videographer Jamie ‘Chizel’ Hamer is the man behind our latest 7 minute stint ‘Solace’. Titled with reference and as a reminder of the hardships we’ve all faced this past year, Solace returns us full circle to a time where hanging outdoors with friends is allowed with plenty more good days well and truly on the way.
Not forgetting last month’s Nike SB GT Blazer Wear Test in partnership with our good-friends over at Vague, Solace is a release supported by Vans and their latest ‘Skate Classics’ collection that once again features the mastery of Jack Gorham and Josh ‘Ranga’ Harper, with the likes of Aaron Jago, Cam Loki Ash, Matt Beer, Elliot Jago, Herbie Edwards, Trav Wardle, Glen Brooks and Chiz himself thrown in for good measure. Patched together to the backdrop of both Soudsci and Peace, Torquay’s palm-lined promenade, Plymouth’s Frankfurt Gate and Exeter’s Rougemont Pl each have their spot in the limelight alongside snippets from favoured spots dotted around Bristol and Newton Abbot, with the perfect ending a showcase to Cam’s insane talent as he bombs it down Rock Walk’s steep seaside incline in Torquay.
Solace is dedicated to Ralph Roberts, a UK skater who sadly passed away in January 2021, and is in support of the ‘Live Like Ralph’ campaign that was set up by his parents to help build and repair skate parts, provide underprivileged kids with skate gear, support creatives and to encourage more female skaters into the scene.
