Known for their deep love of their Aussie heritage, Pass~Port launched in 2009 out of Brisbane and has remained a pillar of international and local skate scene influence ever since. Relocating to Sydney, Pass~Port’s creative inspiration is drawn from sources including travel, friendship and their East Coast roots, whilst their continued support of local skaters and artists remains loyal to their community orientated narrative. Hailing the likes of Anti-Hero and Black Flag as his early influencers, founder Trent Evans’ love for old-school VX1000 edits continually influences their aesthetic, with their ‘Good-Bye VX’ release featuring an 11 minute montage that eventually celebrated the brand’s transition to HD in 2017. Collaborations for Pass~Port have remained constant since their foundation, with their 2019 ‘Kiss Me In The NT’ film and capsule with Carhartt WIP mirrored by their ‘Fitzy Plaza’ Vans clothing and footwear release that featured both a co-designed Sid Pro Ltd and a long sleeve bomber jacket.
This latest release follows on from a previous collaboration with Nike SB from 2015 on a pair of Nike SB Blazer’s, a release that marked the assignment of skater Josh Pall as a pro for the Australian brand. Since then, Pall has been joined by other shared Nike SB Australia skaters including Geoff Campbell, Jack O’Grady and Jason Rainbird. Styled with an earthy colourway that mimics similar work boot referencing releases such as the Nike SB Dunk High Boot from 2016, the Nike SB x Pass~Port Dunk High Pro is crafted with hairy green suede uppers and resilient ripstop nylon underlays for a multi-textured aesthetic inspired by OG trail trekking footwear. The classic cupsole features a tortoiseshell rubber outsole for a marbled look, with Nike’s performative circular underfoot tread delivering exemplary all-terrain traction outside its original courtside roots. Dark brown leather Swooshes mark each midfoot, whilst interchangeable hiking style rounded laces secure the ‘Nike SB x Pass~Port’ branded two tone tongue in place. Double D-ring eyestays pay homage to classic hiking boot stylings, whilst mirrored tongue and rear collar pull tabs feature the brand’s iconic handshake logo woven across their design. Finished with collaborative custom designed insoles and with Pass~Port’s recognisable digger-man logo embroidered across each exterior lateral quarter in golden yellow stitching with a Swoosh for a shovel.
Filmed in and around Australia’s Blue Mountains, the Nike SB x Pass~Port Dunk High Pro release is also joined by an accompanying clip filmed and edited by shared skater Geoff Campbell and featuring the likes of Raphael Langslow, Jack O’Grady, Jason Rainbird, Corey Young, Josh Pall and more.
