Flatspot Community VIP Loyalty Rewards - CPH Open
We were recently given the exciting opportunity to reward some of our most loyal Nike SB customers with a five day trip to experience and document the Copenhagen Open.
Since its inception in 2018, the event has grown to an infamous level, drawing skaters from all over the globe to participate in open and Pro invite competitions and jams dotted throughout the city. With an ambition of becoming the EU's leading capital of city culture, Copenhagen continually opens its arms to countless amounts of skaters each year, all of whom are excited to enjoy the event's numerous skate spots, parties and cash for tricks opportunities.
Nike SB tasked us to seek out three of our most loyal Nike SB customers who are as passionate about skateboarding and content as we are to join us in Copenhagen and participate in photography workshops created by Madrid based photographer Adrian Rios. A unique opportunity designed to help sharpen camera skills before heading out into the field to document the events as well as capture all the special moments in between.
Our three participants; Tom Haynes, Guy Roberts and Osy Ikhile, all from various backgrounds and generations of skateboarding, shared a common interest in photography and documenting its various forms. Each participant relished the opportunity to be right in the mix alongside some of the biggest names in skateboarding as they captured the essence of the CPH Open, as demonstrated by their work below. We had a catch up with the team post-event to discuss some of the key moments of the CPH Open.
Take a look at some of their work and some of their take-aways from the trip below:
“I learned so much from Adrian about photographing skateboarding. From composition to shutter speeds and iso's and everything in between. I definitely learnt some skills that I’m going to continue to nurture.” - Osy
“It was great to learn some new techniques during the photograph workshops, it was fun to collaborate with the others to put some of the learnings into action.” - Tom
“Learning more about the various controls and striking a balance between them to get the best shot was invaluable.” - Guy
“The city and the people were incredible. There were skate parks and plazas everywhere, I had no idea Copenhagen was that skate friendly.” - Osy
