Designed by mastermind, illustrator and Send Help Skateboards founder Tod Bratrud and arriving as the latest addition to the brand’s ongoing 420-themed Dunks, the Nike SB ‘Strawberry Cough’ Dunk High is a creative and characterised release that celebrates trippy and unrestrained West Coast culture at its core. Originally set to release in 2020, these multi-textured and fruity themed Dunks finally arrive at Flatspot as a follow up to 2019’s K-9 inspired ‘Dog Walker’ Dunk High.

Known for his love of art and skateboarding, North Dakota based Bratrud’s creative legacy is one infamously tied to the shaggy suede Nike SB Dunk High ‘Skunk’ from 2010, the Nike SB Dunk Mid ‘White Widow’ from 2018 and the bandana accented ‘Cheech and Chong’s’ from 2011. A yearly honouring that aptly celebrates the 4:20pm smoking tradition that originated back in ‘71, Nike’s highly expressive and undoubtedly intriguing 420 collection is one that leaves no stone unturned when it comes to honouring favoured and easy-going traditions. A fruity themed release, aptly titled after the taste focused sativa hybrid, the Nike SB ‘Strawberry Cough’ Dunk hosts some similarities to other consumable themed releases such as the textured Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ‘Street Hawker’ and Dunk High ‘Chicken and Waffles’, with the two tone colourway of this Dunk High Pro drop not too dissimilar from Bratrud’s initial ‘Send Help’ Dunk series that released back in 2006.
Styled with mismatched shaggy green suede and speckled red leather uppers, a tribute to the berry’s ripe colouring, the Nike SB ‘Strawberry Cough’ `Dunk delivers in both performativity and pronounced creativity. A classic high top upgraded with Nike’s pioneering Zoom Air unit technology and with a traditional circular tread for increased traction and grip, this ideational silhouette also features a hazy, smoked rubber outsole for a noted 420 twist, with the contrasting red cupsole stitch intricacies a tribute to its fruity themed design. Classic toe box perforations provide ample circulatory comfort from first wear, with the raised speckled detailing across the leather underlays paying homage to the berry’s pipped aesthetic. A recessed 9 eyelet lacing system is styled with interchangeable laces that help secure the padded ‘Nike SB Dunk High Pro’ tongue in place across the arch of the foot, whilst the green velvet padded collar complements the swoop-back green suede Swooshes for an additional layer of textured depth. Mirrored heel pull tabs provide quick and easy wear, whilst the custom illustrative insoles feature coughing strawberry character detailings that complement the embroidered ‘cough cough’ caricature strawberry figure displayed across each exterior facing lateral quarter.

Winners will be chosen on Friday 22nd October 2021 at 08:00AM (BST) and we will aim to confirm both successful and unsuccessful entries within three hours. Winning pairs will ship Friday 22nd October.
For each release we will invite those interested to enter a draw to purchase prior to the products actual designated time of release. Card payment will be required to register for each draw and your payment will be authorised but the funds not taken by us unless your name is successfully drawn at the designated time and date of the actual release.
If you are unsuccessful in the draw the pre-authorisation will be voided and your funds released, it may take up to five working days before you see your funds available in your account again.
