Introduced in early 2019, the Nike SB Orange Label project highlights some of the best footwear designs in skateboarding through the use of premium materials that ensure the best in comfort and performance. As firm favourites for an international community of skaters, each model released through the Orange Label project is sold exclusively through selected skate stores in support of a #supportyourlocalskateshop initiative. With an impressive array of designs released so far, including collaborative designs created in partnership with team riders such as Ishod Wair, Leo Baker and Oskar ‘Oski’ Rozenberg, we’re excited to see what comes next.
The project was first introduced with a sleek all-black range featuring three of the most celebrated Nike SB footwear styles - the Blazer Mid, Bruin Ultra and Dunk Low Pro. Enhanced by unique detailing such as orange tipped laces and tilted Swoosh tick emblems which helped to differentiate the models from standard designs, the use of premium material took centre stage whilst performance-focused features remained at the core of each design. Closely followed by a matching all-white range, the releases that have since followed continue to demonstrate the community spirit behind the project and have included collaborative designs with a selection of team riders whose own personal style was reflected through colour, material and decorative decals. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 90, a special Dunk Low Pro model featuring vivid bursts of a famous ‘infrared’ tone was introduced for spring in addition to a design that paid homage to legendary American baseball player George Kenneth Griffey Jr.
Arriving for summer 2020 the latest three-part release sees black and dark grey tones across Blazer Mid and Bruin Ultra silhouettes with a Dunk Mid Pro taking the place of the previously seen Dunk Low Pro. Individually favoured for their own features and shapes, each of the selected skate shoes has held its place within the Nike SB rota for the last few years and continues to be the choice of pro skaters and fans alike.
Recognised for its roots within basketball, the protective raised collar on the Nike SB Orange Label Blazer Mid helps to keep the foot firmly in place when on the move with a full lace up fastening and padded finish. Smooth premium leather uppers provide a base for dark grey elongated Swoosh ticks on either side of the foot which wrap around the heel where additional embroidered ‘Nike SB’ lettering above adds to the signature branding seen across the design. Constructed using a vulcanized technique that ensures a highly durable finish, a Zoom Air unit has been placed within the sockliner whilst the crisp white outsole stands out against the darker tone uppers with a detailed herringbone tread pattern underfoot that supplies reliable traction for wear on and off your board.
Following the same lowkey colourway, the Nike SB Orange Label Bruin Ultra is the newest model to be developed and has a streamlined low-cut silhouette with subtle Swoosh tick embroidery on either side of the toe and stylised lettering decoration around the back of the heel. Matching the other two designs, the tonal black lace fastening sits on top of an exposed foam tongue with a woven branded label around its edge presenting the Nike SB Orange Label logo design. A Zoom Air unit has been added within the sockliner for responsive cushioning that is furthered by auxetic shapes in the midsole that work to evenly disperse pressure when active. The super clean white outsole has a subtle surface texture and holds a detailed herringbone tread pattern for reliable grip.
Completing the trio, the Nike SB Orange Label Dunk Mid Pro [see raffle details below] has also been taken from the brands extensive footwear archive and has been updated as an elevated version of a skate classic with smooth black leather uppers and dark grey Swoosh tick decoration on either side of the foot which has been tilted to have the tips fall just below the top back edge of the padded ankle collar. As a stand out feature of the style, the velcro closure above the colour matched lace fastening furthers the secure fit of the design with embroidered ‘SB’ lettering to one side. A soft fabric lining runs throughout the inside of the shoe alongside a sockliner that holds a Zoom Air unit in the heel and a full cupsole stitch can be seen around the midsole to notify a considered construction method that increases the overall quality of the finish. On the outsole a circular pivot point has been positioned on the forefoot of the tread to allow for fluid movement.
Proud to support the future of skateboarding in both forward-thinking footwear and apparel designs as well as pro rider sponsorships, Nike SB is one of the top brands within the industry and works hard to ensure their international following are catered to when it comes to skate performance that won’t slow you down. Bringing attention to established skaters and up and coming riders who are working hard to get to the top, each Nike SB release is fuelled by a sense of community and a strong sportswear heritage that together continue to make history.
