Nike SB Orange Label PT10

Introducing the latest instalment to Nike SB’s #supportyourlocalskateshop initiative that follows in hot pursuit of March’s ‘Dark Smoke Grey’ Nike SB Blazer Mid and Dunk High Pro. A timely update on 2019’s ‘White Pack’ release, the transition to SS21 brings about two new signature silhouettes for the Orange Label initiative; a white, navy and safety orange Dunk Low Pro and a similarly toned Blazer Mid. Casting aesthetic appreciations for throwback collegiate colourings, team sport branding and Nike SB’s illustrious courtside legacy, this month’s Orange Label announcement acts as an almost anniversary release in honour of the collections second release from May two years ago.

Remaining true to the project’s desire to promote the fundamentals of both local and international skate communities, the Orange Label project continues to gain momentum as it enters its second year in circulation. Home to a number of memorable releases, including those designed in partnership with team riders such as Ishod Wair, Leo Baker and Oskar Rozenberg, as well as commemorative custom designs such as the Dunk Mid Pro ‘Griffey Jr’ and Oski’s shark themed Dunk High Pro, Nike SB turns its attention once more to its courtside roots for this archival inspired two part release. Switching out the bold black trims from 2019’s release and replacing them with dark navy accents, a design choice that seemingly follows on from December’s ‘Midnight Navy’ instalment, this latest selection of Nike SB favourites pays continued tribute to two of the most iconic sneaker-culture influencers of all time, the Dunk Low Pro and the 1973 remastered Blazer Mid.

Styled with the same gum rubber circular tread cupsole as its Orange Label PT2 counterpart, the new season Nike SB Orange Label Dunk Low Pro is styled with premium white leather uppers for elevated durability, whilst its perforated toe box, vulcanised construction and tonal reinforced stitchings remain true to the design’s ode to performative function pioneered by its 1985 predecessor. Nike SB’s revolutionary Zoom Air unit finds itself well placed within the cushioned sockliner for added bounce, boardfeel and flex, with the colour matched padded lining and puffy tongue a complement to its orange agleted, 6 eyelet lacing system. Across the quarters, swoop back dark navy Swooshes bring added depth to the triple toned design, with classic ‘Nike’ embroidered branding a mainstay across the rear ankle. Signed off with custom Orange Label tongue tabs and collection exclusive insoles for added notoriety and referential character.

This latest Nike SB Orange Label Blazer Mid boasts a throwback aesthetic that’s reminiscent of the old school colourings made popular by the sneaker’s NBA debut back in ‘73. Premium leather uppers provide a reinforced and resilient day on day skate, with the overlaid auxetic foxings a complement to the circular tread cupsole and integrated Zoom Air unit. Lightly padded protection structures the high collared side walls, whilst the recessed 10 eyelet lacing system secures the tongue across the natural arch of the foot. Mirroring its Dunk Low Pro collection sibling, dark navy Swooshes adorn each sidewall, whilst the retained ventilation perforations above the midsole are in keeping with tradition to ensure a well circulated wear no matter the setting. Custom insoles, safety orange aglets and classic ‘Nike’ branding across the heel brace seals the design, whilst its colour block composure and vintage sportswear appeal is in keeping with contemporary skate and street trends.
