Following on from last month’s digital-handycam themed ‘VX1000’ Orange Label Dunk Low Pro, Nike SB’s #supportyourlocalskateshop Orange Label initiative turns its creative attention to dark smoke grey colourings for its latest 2021 release. Backed by collaborations with the likes of team-riders such as Ishod Wair, Leo Baker and Oskar Rozenberg, this new-season collection for Nike’s Orange Label welcomes new colour interpretations of the Nike SB Blazer Mid and Nike SB Dunk High Pro into the mix, alongside collection-exclusive apparel including a jacket, sweater and hoodie.

Established in early 2019 as a means of supporting local communities and independent skate shops, the Nike SB Orange Label project continually celebrates some of the brands most celebrated footwear and apparel styles with respect to creative custom character. Arriving for spring 2021, a follow on from last-season’s midnight-navy and dark-obsidian release, long-sleeve layers such as the dark-grey Nike SB Orange Label Hoodie pairs heavyweight insulative protection with a classic-toned ode to sustainable resourcing, whilst the similarly-coloured Orange Label Crewneck Sweatshirt serves as a clean-cut fleece-lined layer crafted from the same organic-cotton and recycled-polyester blend. For admirers of Nike’s sneaker-culture lineage and their ceaseless rosta of pioneering footwear designs, the bomber-inspired Nike SB Orange Label Jacket pays tribute to the OG Dunk legacy with its full-colour photo-illustrative lining.

Both creative and eco-conscious in its selective assignment, the Nike SB Orange Label collection welcomes another Blazer Mid to the line up that follows in the footsteps of both the ‘Heaven & Hell’ red-velvet release from Kevin Bradley and the muted-bronze cotton cord ‘Oski’ release for Oskar Rozenberg in December 2019. A favoured skate silhouette thanks to both Lance Mountain and Grant Taylor’s revolutionary remasterings, the Nike SB Blazer Mid returns in a dark smoke grey colouring with a smooth suede upper. Tumbled premium-grade black leather across the quarter-panel Swooshes and the auxetic wrap-around midsole pairs neatly with the brushed-suede uppers for a textural look, whilst the classic gum-rubber outsole features the Blazer’s iconic circular underfoot tread for skate-specific performative traction. Dusty colourings and ashy hues help elevate the iconic Dunk design, with the same mixed-material leather and suede trims as its Blazer Mid sibling helping bring added depth and character to its courtside design. A split-tone and full-stitch cupsole complements the gum-rubber circular underfoot tread for a reliable and impact-resistant everyday skate, whilst the perforated toe-box, Zoom Air unit and the padded high-rise collar work together seamlessly to ensure comfortable and cushioned wear. Puffy-style laces are secured via the recessed 8-eyelet lacing system to fasten the padded ‘Nike SB’ embroidered tongue across the natural arch of the foot, whilst the neon-orange accents pay tribute to the design’s Orange Label assignment.
