Rising to fame thanks to its swift approval from the likes of baseball and football legend Bo Jackson and quick-footed tennis player John McEnroe, the OG Air Trainer 1 was a cross-training profile that arrived well ahead of its time. Designed to complement the rising interest in sporting culture during the ‘80s, the all-purpose silhouette has continued to capture the attention of many like-minded athletes and sporting enthusiasts thanks to its all-in-one composure and its ageless sense of appeal. Styled with brushed suede khaki grey and crisp-white leather uppers, these ‘Chlorophyll’ Air Trainer 1’s remain loyal to their namesake, letting neon-green pops of contemporary colour accentuate tech-led trims across the body and collar. Nike’s new-age Zoom Air midsole replaces the original Air Bladder component to deliver undeniable impact resistance when paired with any energetic skate style, whilst the rubberised cupsole stitched outsole and the time-transcending lateral support switches its gaze from old-school court-based purposes to suit the ebbing needs of any contemporary skate setting. Perforated toe-box detailing is mirrored across both the interior and exterior side-walls for all-angle circulatory value, a feature that remains faithful to both the ‘87 and 2012 variant. Doubled-up fastenings keep security at the forefront of its design, with both a hook-and-loop midfoot closure and a recessed 6-eyelet lacing system above working to keep the padded ‘Nike SB Air Trainer 1’ tongue secured against the natural arch of the foot. Bold black suede Swooshes pair neatly with the colour-matched midfoot underlays beneath the velcro tab-ends, whilst the rib-stitch ¾ length padded collar is signed off with like-for-like embroidered ‘Nike Air’ Swoosh branding across the heel collar in a striking shade of chlorophyll green.
