Based on artist, teacher, costume and kimono designer Sanzo Wada’s original 6-volume work, Haishoku Soukan, from the 1930’s, the Japanese Dictionary of Color Combinations has continued to help lay the foundations for contemporary colour research. Featuring 348 balanced colour pairings that stem from avant-garde Japanese art and cinema culture, as well as from post-war Western traditions, the guide has been credited as being one of the first to ever catalogue the process of combining colours. Focusing on the importance of colour as a way of celebrating visual perception and form, this latest Nike SB Dunk Low capsule is inspired by the colour pairings compiled on pages 181 and 194.
