Nike SB Dunk Low Pro 'ACG Terra'

Paying homage to Nike’s own ACG line and the designs that have come out of the project since the late 1980’s, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro 'ACG Terra' Shoes boast a lively sunburst, varsity purple and taxi colour palette with black accents that tap into the core of the ‘All Conditions Gear’ line. As a given for any Nike SB Dunk model, skate-ready features such as a Zoom Air unit in the heel, heavily padded tongue and circular tread design remain firmly in place as essentials for everyday performance that suit modern day demands.

Proving Nike’s ability to be ahead of time with forward-thinking design vision, the bold, colourful and distinctly experimental ACG line was first introduced in 1988, nine years on from a Nike Hiking sub-label that helped to sow the seeds for a new era of multifunctional designs. Using a combination of materials, textures, vivid colour tones and construction methods pulled from traditional hiking, climbing and running gear, each ACG collection demonstrated a consideration to a number of activities, as opposed to focusing on just one as Nike had done previously. Said to be inspired by the Stonemasters - a collective of climbers and surfers during the 1970’s that included the likes of Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, Rick Rideway and John Roskelly who were pushing the boundaries of climbing whilst living outside of mainstream society - a reflection of the memorable clothing choices and independent attitudes associated with the team are apparent through ACG designs even to this day and are carried with a spirit to stand out from the norm. Nowadays with the ‘Gorpcore’ trend for wearing technical outerwear for casual comfort remaining popular, the ACG line is more relevant than ever and was introduced well before its time as a pioneering collection for those seeking a life less ordinary in the great outdoors.

Taking reference from the ongoing colour-focus of the ACG archives and a certain Air Terra trail running shoe model that remains one of the labels most memorable releases, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro 'ACG Terra' Shoes have been constructed with durable suede uppers, a layered outsole with a speckled split design and signature Nike SB Dunk detailing that supplies reliability and performance for demanding skate sessions. Perforation across the toe vamp increases ventilation to keep you cool and comfortable with a lace fastening above that holds the foot and supportive padded tongue in place when active. The famous Nike SB logo can be seen on a woven label that wraps around the top edge of the tongue and on either side of the foot elongated Swoosh ticks have been added with tips that continue around the back of the heel where additional ‘Nike’ lettering has been embroidered against a curved suede overlay. Throughout the inside a soft fabric lining provides all day comfort in addition to a Zoom Air unit in the heel whilst the distinctive monochrome layered rubber outsole has a full cupsole stitch that increases flexibility and durability with a single orange line close to the top edge for additional decoration. Underfoot the circular tread design supplies reliable traction for wear across a variety of terrains with a pivot circle at the toe.

Following their motto of "Designed, tested and made on Planet Earth" contemporary releases from Nike’s ACG project continue to utilise the high energy acid tones that were common throughout the early ‘90s and with sports such as mountain biking, climbing, hiking and snowboarding in mind, there is an emphasis on adaptability with convertible designs that can be styled to suit different conditions and terrains. Adding to the selection of collaborative styles that incorporate Nike’s history and eye for innovation, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro 'ACG Terra' pays homage to just one of many projects to come from the internationally renowned company that continues to lead the way in style and groundbreaking design.
