Nike SB Dunk Low OG Medicom

Arriving as the next collaboration between Nike SB and Medicom following a futuristic Nike SB x Medicom Dunk High Elite QS released in the spring of 2018, a monochrome edition of the Nike SB Dunk Low OG has been unveiled with fuzzy bear-like hairy uppers which tap into the famous silhouette of Medicom’s most popular figurine, the BE@RBRICK. Adding to a selection of memorable textural designs that have been created for 2020 so far, this release shares characteristics with the Nike SB x Grateful Dead Dunk Low Pros with trippy fur-like trims released last month and the highly sought after Nike SB x Ben & Jerry's 'Chunky Dunky' Dunk Low Pro for spring.

Customised with a swivel waist, twistable head and ball joint arms and legs, the BE@RBRICK was created by Shibuya, Tokyo based Medicom Toy Incorporated and has become an icon within streetwear through high grade, limited edition collaborations. Since the designs debut release date in 2001, as a gift to the attendees of the World Character Convention in Tokyo, the figurine has become much more than just a toy and has found its place within streetwear, art and design. Marking some of fashion's best moments with variations that depict creations by Chanel, Fendi and BAPE as well as characters from music and film history such as Michael Jackson, Batman, Stormtroopers and favourite Looney Tunes characters. The distinctive bear silhouette acts as a base for free expression and endless creativity and has been painted, carved and adorned with Swarovski crystals across key chain, original and giant sizes which continue to make history in both their appearance and retail price.

As a step on from the hairy suede fabric choices that proved popular last year across designs such as the Nike SB 420 'Dog Walker' Dunk High and Nike SB x Frog Skateboards Blazer Mid which both referenced animals with playful aesthetics and detailing, the Nike SB Dunk Low OG Medicom may look simple from a distance but on closer inspection they carry a selection of signature features which have been enhanced by high quality fabrics and colour tones. The brushable hairy fabric takes centre stage across the uppers and the toe vamp, which has subtle perforation, and continues around the back of the heel where a contrasting off-white insert sits at the tip of the ankle collar where ‘NIKE’ lettering has been embroidered in colour matched thread. Two sets of laces arrive with each pair for a customisable look and much like any Nike SB Dunk, the tongue is highly padded for comfort with a black woven label below its top edge that presents an ‘@’ symbol against an outline of a bear’s head. The same emblem can be seen again embroidered on the outer sides of the heel in white and within the shoe alongside a soft fabric lining the sockliner has been customised with a monochrome BE@RBRICK pattern, complete with the both the Nike SB and BE@RBRICK logo at the heel. A full cupsole stitch wraps around the rubber midsole for improved durability and underfoot a multidirectional grip pattern features alongside pivot circles which together provide an impressive level of traction and mimics the design of the original Nike Dunk.

With an international fanbase of collectors, interior designers and influencers - Pharrell, Shawn Stussy and Grace Coddington to name a few - BE@RBRICK figures are sold primarily in Japan in small numbers, which naturally increases the exclusivity of new designs being able to overseas fans, who more often that not head to specialist auctions or luxury department stores to find their desired models. As a celebration of the long lasting effect Medicom’s creation has had upon the design and fashion industry, the Nike SB Dunk Low OG Medicom highlights the versatility of both the BE@RBRICK and Nike SB footwear as an act of personal and cultural expression.

This product is sold on an enter draw to purchase basis. The draw opens on Thursday 20th August at 17.00PM (BST) and closes on Friday 21st August 2020 at 08:00AM (BST). You can enter the draw here.

Winners will be picked at the official product release date on Saturday 22nd August 2020 at 08:00AM (BST) and we will aim to confirm both successful and unsuccessful entries within three hours.

For each release we will invite those interested to enter a draw to purchase prior to the products actual designated time of release. Card payment will be required to register for each draw and your payment will be authorised but the funds not taken by us unless your name is successfully drawn at the designated time and date of the actual release.
