Nike SB Dunk High Elite with Chris Jones

In the lead up to two new colourways of the Nike SB Dunk High Elite dropping in August 2017, Flatspot met with Nike SB rider Chris Jones to take a closer look.

Seeing as Chris Jones’ first pair of Nike SBs were Dunks, it seems only fitting that they were the model of choice for this release. Enhanced with new performance features and materials the design offers more than your average and crafted in two distinctive university red and college navy colourways for the initial launch, the classic skate shoe has been re-engineered from the ground up to achieve a finish that supports longer, harder skate sessions. Textural suede overlays encase lightweight Flyknit mesh inserts at the toe vamp and on either side of the foot whilst a super clean leather Swoosh tick provides signature branding and continues around the back of either heel. In addition to a full lace up fastening, modern tech details such as a Flyknit collar secures the foot for comfort and support and has been paired with an improved Zoom Air heel.

Hailing from South Wales, Chris Jones grew up skating with his brother before leaving school and finding his way into a history degree in Bristol, UK. Gaining his first sponsor with Crayon skate store in 2011, following the brands demise a couple of years later Jones joined London based Isle Skateboards and incidentally, it was during the filming of Jacob Harris’ Eleventh Hour in 2013 that he decided to move to South London full time, which had a solid impact in establishing his place within the industry.

Celebrated for his relaxed, easy going style blended with speed and precision, Chris uses skateboarding to bring attention to those in need through his work with Make Life Skate Life - a project linked with Levi’s Skateboarding - and SkatePAL, a non-profit organisation that supports children in Palestine and enhances their lives with weekly inclusive skateboarding classes which are held at parks built by volunteers of the project. Seen above, the university red and college navy editions will be released on Thursday 3rd August at 08:00am with the sail and binary blue to follow in September.
