Butter Goods x Flatspot
We're pumped to announce that we have worked with Perth based Butter Goods on a very limited capsule collection that will drop online Wednesday 18th October 2017 at 8pm.
In the style of the musicians ‘The Magnetic Atmospher’ album released in 1980, the design is rooted deep in free jazz with a print of drummer Clarence Peters on the front surrounded by stylised typography that celebrates Flatspot’s founding year. Presented across a run of t-shirts and hooded sweats cut from high quality cotton blends, autumnal colour palettes clash perfectly with poppin' banana yellow tones. Also included within the pack is an all black 6 panel cap, decorated with an embroidered ‘Butter’ text up front and a special edition varsity Flatspot logo across the back.
Helping to put Western Australia on the map, alongside music, culture and art the duo take influence from their upbringings spent skateboarding which continually encourage the look and topics expressed within each release. 2019 saw multiple collections harness the look of ‘90s skate apparel enhanced with custom graphics that depict the duos love for music - in particular, jazz - nostalgic cartoons and their own ‘Butter Worldwide’ tagline. Marking a milestone for the brand and figures close to the founding duo’s hearts, for their last collection of the year a capsule range of apparel designed in collaboration with New Orleans skateboarder and owner of Humidity skate shop Philly Santosuosso was introduced alongside a shoe collaboration with DC that captured the nostalgic chunky look of footwear typical of the ‘90s.
Founded in 2008 by school friends Garth Mariano and Matt Evans, Butter Goods has gained a strong international following for their creative graphics, independent spirit and partnered company Lo-Fi which you can find stocked through Flatspot’s own sister store Always in Colour. Having opened two retail spaces located in Perth’s old bank district in 2019, it’s clear that in the new decade we’ll see big things from the duo whether it’s more collaborations, international skate trips or killer artwork.
