adidas Puig Indoor
The latest signature skate shoe from Palace rider and laid-back Frenchman Lucas Puig is introduced as a technical revision of his iconic adidas Puig from 2020. Inspired by vintage racket-sport favourites and by the skater’s own innovative mentality, the adidas Puig Indoor arrives in an inaugural cream, white and red styling, with two more colourways set to arrive soon here at Flatspot.
Starting his path into skateboarding just before turning 14 with a signing to Lyon’s Cliché Skateboards, Touloussian skater Lucas Puig is known for his creativity and advancing design style. Co-founder of Parisian skate brand Hélas, Puig was signed to adidas’ skateboarding subdivision in 2012, the same year his Lucas Puig LTD dropped. Over the course of the past decade numerous edits have continued to highlight the skater, with features including those in Lakai’s ‘Fully Flared’ and Cliché’s ‘Bon Voyage’, whilst additional sponsorships include those with Wayward Wheels and Lev Tanju’s Palace Skateboards.
Rivalling the likes of Dennis Busenitz with his collection of adidas skate shoes, and noting French footballer Zinedine Zidane as the reason the Three Stripes brand really entered his radar, Puig’s legacy began with the release of his first signature, the Lucas Puig LTD in 2012. Styled with pioneering SprintSkin uppers and a tennis shoe aesthetic, the Lucas Puig Pro was swiftly followed by 2016’s Lucas Premiere ADV that dropped a short while after his appearance in adidas’ iconic ‘Away Days’ Edit. Fast forward to 2020 and the French skater announced the release of the adidas Puig. The initial drop included a collaboration with Palace Skateboards, with the skate shoe itself dubbed as the gap bridger between classic adidas Terrace Casuals culture and the world of luxury fashion with its over-exaggerated details and visionary form.
Accompanied by its own ‘progression accentuated by unmistakable style’ tagline, the adidas Puig Indoor is a lighter, leaner and evolved follow on from its 2020 adidas Puig predecessor. Styled with leather and nylon uppers, an updated vulcanised outsole and a high-grade EVA midsole, this signature skate shoe also features a tonal leather lining and a moulded and sustainably sourced insole. The textured rubber midsole replaces the original cupsole design, whilst perforations across the toe box draw inspiration from adidas’ original Indoor Super aesthetic. Flat laces secure the gold foil branded and lightly padded tongue in place, whilst additional metallic gold ‘Puig’ branding details each triple stripe side wall. Finished with Puig’s custom designed insoles, a striped under-tongue lining and with a tonal red leather heel patch for an additional pop of colour. Ultimately designed for everyone with a conscious construction purpose-built to ensure a quicker break-in and to provide elevated comfort whether skating or not.
