adidas Gonz Ultra Boost
A transference of creativity from skateboarding to a performance running classic, the adidas Gonz Ultra Boost arrives as the artist-come-skater’s latest creation. Detailed with his iconic Shmoofoil characters throughout and styled as a post-skate shoe, this unique Ultra Boost captures the same playful artistry commonly seen across a number of Mark Gonzales’ iconic adidas skate shoes.
Skating since the age of thirteen, appearing on the ‘84 cover of Thrasher Magazine and renowned for his appearances in Supreme’s ‘Cherry’ and adidas’ ‘Away Days’, Mark Gonzales was rightfully coined the ‘Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time’ in 2011 by Transworld Skateboarding Magazine. Illustrative creativity stems from his pioneering street skating legacy, his bustling NYC studio and from a desire to bring a little joy and happiness to the world, whilst his best known art piece, the Shmoo, has since appeared in artist showcases at the Agenda Trade Show and HVW8 Gallery in Los Angeles.
Previously released adidas skate shoes from Mark Gonzales include the Aloha Super and Polson ST, whilst his neon accented adidas Gonz Superstar ADV from 2021 arrived as the most recent addition to the Gonz x adidas collection. Launched in 2015, the adidas ADV Boost was the first skate shoe from the brand to feature adidas’ eTPU midsole technology designed by the adidas Innovation Team (AIT), whilst fellow team rider Dennis Busenitz’s adidas Busenitz Pure Boost from the year after was the first signature skate shoe to be styled as part of the Boost series.
Opting for the revised Ultraboost DNA as his canvas of choice, Mark Gonzales’ bold artistry and immersive design style merges a performance running icon with evolutionary skate culture for the first time. Styled with multi-tonal Primeknit weaved uppers, a full length black Boost midsole, an internal Torsion system and a gum Continental outsole, with a translucent eyestay cage to help secure the flat interchangeable laces across the padded mesh tongue. A sock-like upper provides a breathable and highly comfortable fit, whilst the reinforced ‘Ultraboost’ heel brace delivers additional structural support. Finished with Gonz’s iconic Shmoofoil characters woven into the uppers, a Shmoo character Trefoil tongue graphic and with neon printed Boost insoles.
