A true classic, the Adidas Samba gets its first update through these Samba ADV 'Gustav Tønnesen' Shoes, designed in collaboration with Norwegian skater Gustav Tønnesen to a monochrome core black and white colourway. Built especially for skateboarding, the smooth suede uppers offer a refined aesthetic, with contrasting top stitching that creates streamlined panelling. In addition to this, on the outer uppers ‘Tønnesen’ has been printed in white vinyl alongside. A highlight of this model is the mesh bootie that runs throughout the inside, which ensures you’re kept cool and comfortable whilst on the move. Flat black cotton laces sit upon the slim and flexible tongue which includes a vinyl printed Trefoil logo. The back of the heel features an addition panel of suede, presenting further Adidas branding in white on top.
Providing solid structure below the uppers, the moulded footbed can be removed, plus the crystal white midsole has a textural grip-orientated finish with extra attention around the back of the heel for strength. A herringbone tread design includes a pivot circle and indentations around the toes.
First released in the 1950s, the Samba is Adidas’ signature aesthetic footwear style originally crafted for wearing whilst playing football during icy conditions. 2019 reintroduces the style for skateboarding in collaboration with Gustav Tønnesen who appears both in front and behind the camera alongside teammate Martin Sandberg in the accompanying feature short film, recorded in Tønnesen’s now home city of Barcelona.
