Bark, Bark, Vapour Pink

Adidas Aloha Super Karol Winthorp Shoes in Bark and Vapour Pink. Paying homage to 2006’s ‘Krooked Khronicles’ skate film and Mark Gonzales’ appointed pseudonym, these adidas Aloha Super Karol Winthorp’s serve a contemporary reference to the brown-leather dress shoes worn by director Spike Jonze during his pop-up parts in the California-shot short form. The fourth colourway to elevate Gonzales’ Aloha Super silhouette since its debut in 2018, these low-collared nubuck skate shoes are styled with full-grain leather accents and all-brown uppers for a creative remastering of its dress-shoe muse. A semi-translucent EVA midsole gives way to a neon-pink rubberised outsole featuring The Gonz’s iconic Shmoofoil print across its traction-focused tread, whilst the molded ADIPRENE sockliner pairs well with the archival mesh tongue to ensure a secure and well-cushioned wear regardless of setting. Classic triple-stripe tonal adidas branding accentuates the quarters above the wrap-around brushed-suede overlays with reference to the Aloha Super’s iconic aesthetic, while the recessed 5-eyelet lacing system secures the padded Shmoofoil embroidered tongue across the natural arch of the foot. Sky-blue custom insoles mirror the similarly-toned intricacies for an added pop of colour, whilst the ‘MG’ ‘KW’ embroidered details across each nubuck-suede ankle collar pays creative reference to Gonzales’ Karol Winthorp moniker.

Inspired by both Spike Jonze’s (Adam Spiegel) and Karol Winthorp’s (Mark Gonzales) part in the 2006 debuting ‘Krooked Khronicles’, adidas’ latest Aloha Super Karol Winthorp’s are designed with both nostalgia and boardfeel in mind. Paying tribute to the sandy-toned dress shoes worn by director Jonze during his pop-up parts in the legendary film, these remastered skate shoes pair adidas’ endless ode to performative function with both parties’ honourable on-scene legacies.

Recognising that the task of sustainability represents ‘a marathon, not a sprint’, adidas continues to adjust its supply management, environmental footprint and community programmes to suit. A founding member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) since 2004, adidas continues to drive the notion of positive change across the sportswear industry. Since 2013, adidas continues to produce more than ‘11 million pairs of shoes’ utilising recycled plastic waste from coastal regions, whilst the use of bio-fabricated materials, sustainable cotton and Dry Dye fabrics take centre stage across all apparel.
