As part of the eagerly awaited 3ST.004 release, the Adidas footwear design team have collaborated with an array of pro team riders to develop the latest addition to the 3ST family, resulting in a true pioneer within footwear that promotes distinctive Adidas heritage styling. Using Tyshawn Jones (Thrasher Magazine’s 2018 Skater of the Year) as a core muse, an array of skate orientated improvements and purposeful developments are noticeable within the design.
Boasting an array of textures that work together to create a characteristic but streamlined finish, the uppers of these Adidas 3ST.004 shoes are crafted from collegiate royal blue pigskin nubuck, with curved panelling on the sidewalls where three, zig-zag edged, white leather stripes have been added. Made for purpose, to upgrade your skate performance, various areas of ventilation ensure you’re kept cool whilst on the move; including subtle perforation across the front of the toes alongside breathable knitted mesh on the lower half of the tongue. Cushioning is noticeable within the construction of the ankle border and tongue which have been shaped to curve around the foot, providing a premium level of support, in addition to the moulded sockliner that further upgrades foot support. An Adidas trefoil logo has been printed in white at the top of the tongue and a colour matched lace closure provides a refined look. The back of the heel has a layered section of white leather, shaped to have a curved profile which ties in with the boost fuelled midsole.
A highlight of the latest 3ST.004 release is the crafted midsole, positioned in between a stylised blue rubber panel and a light brown outsole. The textural 3D shape has been developed especially to deliver responsive heel protection whilst also adding a new element to the 3ST silhouette. Inspired by the Kegler Super footwear style released in 1983, a light brown translucent rubber segment wraps around the front of the foot, adding layering within the design. A combination of considered patterns are visible on the tread, the majority being Geoflex and the underneath of the heel a rubber herringbone which both work to supply an incredible amount of grip and boardfeel.
