Nike SB Dunk High Pro ‘Kebab and Destroy’ Shoes in Topaz Gold. Designed in partnership with Athens-based skate shop Color, these gyro inspired Nike SB Dunk High Pro skate shoes pay homage to the iconic pitta wrap treat dubbed the poster child of Greek fast food. Remaining loyal to the OG high top silhouette once a favourite of the court, these mixed material suede and leather sneakers feature multi tonal overlays in shades of tan brown and light olive green that pay homage to the crisp colouring of the pitta bread and its salad counterpart, whilst the bright red sidewall Swooshes and puffy laces pay tribute to the zesty tomatoes that fill the gyro. Cracked elephant style leather decorates each heel, inspired by the rotisserie meat that makes for the filling, whilst the crisp white toe box is a reference to the delicious tzatziki sauce. A bold black rubber cupsole features the classic grippy underfoot circular tread and colour contrasted neutral tone stitchings, whilst the integrated Zoom Air unit across the heel provides a cushioned and impact absorbent wear. The left sneaker features a multicoloured ‘C’ emblem embroidered across its exterior facing lateral heel that commemorates Color Skates’ part, with the right sneaker detailed with an embroidered ‘kabob’ sewn in realistic culinary shades. The padded mesh tongue features collaborative ‘Nike SB x Color Skates’ flag label detailing across the exterior, with custom ‘C’ logo ‘Kebab and Destroy’ embroidered detailing across the brush-lined interior side. Illustrative ‘All In’ insoles feature a creative gyro themed design across each individual insert; a creative reference to the brand’s ‘together we have it all’ tagline.
Founded in 2008 and known for their ‘Roadthrill’ and ‘Skate and the City’ series, Athens’ Color Skates is an independent, skater owned and skater operated shop born from the ashes of Greece’s infamous economic meltdown. Following on from collaborations with Greek fast food pioneer Goody’s Burger House, Color Skates welcomes a culinary themed Dunk High Pro into the contemporary mix to rival similar releases such as the Nike SB x Ben & Jerry’s ‘Chunky Dunky’ and David Ortiz’s DQM Air Max ‘Bacon’.
