Designed in collaboration with pro team rider David Torgerson and inspired by a mix of New Balance’s popular lifestyle trainers and Alpine hiking, this new edition of the New Balance Numeric 288S Shoes has tan coloured suede uppers and rich dark green accents. Subtle perforation has been added across the top of the toe vamp and on either side of the foot whilst dark green accents can be seen against ‘N’ emblems cut from leather on either side of the foot, on the back of the heel and along the midsole, whilst the rope laces are patterned which adds extra character to the design. At the core of the design a 4-way stretch mesh sock-like inner collar helps to keep the foot in place and a square velcro loop label has been added at the top of the tongue to show the signature New Balance Numeric logo in black.
Designed by Torgerson’s wife Kimmie, the insole features a custom print design with golden stylised ‘Torgerson’ lettering against a monochrome mountain photograph. On the back of the heel a fabric loop has been added with decorative symbols that reflect alpine influences in gold. Underfoot a C-Cap midsole provides impact support and quality boardfeel and is encased by raised rubber which adds further durability. The tread has an intricate pattern that ensures reliable grip across a variety of terrains.
Hailing from Plymouth Minnesota, David Torgerson is known for sitting perfectly in the middle of pushing skateboarding as a sport further and the creativity often found behind key figures within the industry. As the latest colourway in the New Balance Numeric 288S he’s drawn inspiration from his hometown and leisure time spent with his wife, graphic designer Kimberly Perl.
