Gourmet Footwear Fall 2014 Drop

We've just taken stock of a great drop from Gourmet, four distinctive shoes and colourways from their Fall 2014 footwear collection.

Gourmet’s influences are nested in Italian-American culture, from old world Italy and its traditional menswear tailoring, to Italians in the metropolitan enclaves to diners wearing sweatpants with undeniable style and swag.

You have to come and take a look at the Cork special editions.

Björn Borg... you know, the underpants guy... well before his days of being underwear he was the Word No.1 Tennis champion and during his relatively brief pro career, Borg won 41% of the Grand Slam singles tournaments he entered and 89.81% of the Grand Slam singles matches he played... pretty hot.

Turns out we've not the only ones feeling strong vibes for the guy right now, we love the sporting hero reference made here by Polar on their Champion Borg polo. Details include long button up neck placket, rib collar, Speedy P woven logo label at the chest and cut away lower side seams. This is the short sleeve version flipped on a new colour way for this season.

Things to do in : Berlin Pt.1

1. Do swim in an outdoor swimming pool - This one is amazing (note - didn't take any photos of the actual pool just walls and bushes)

2. Do drink coffee at Bonanza and buy beans for at home (buy beans on last day)

3. Don't avoid the daily afternoon thunderstorm

4. Do browse multiple really sick vintage furniture stores - Be sure not to buy anything to save on the shipping.

5. Do avoid eye contact at one of the many busy entrances to Gurlitzer Park in Kreuzberg.

Thats right we're in the middle of a heat wave and we're raving about £100 fleece sweatpants. SImply put these might be the best sweatpants to ever be stocked here at Flatspot and are rightly so this week's really decent product recommendation. Patagonia have re issued the classic Snap T pocket here onto a slim fitting slightly tapered set of super cosy joggers. The trademark Patagonia Synchilla fleece is made in the Polartec fabric and Patagonia also make it clear that they have had them stitched and finished in a quality and outstandingly ethical place too like only they know how. We didn't go too deep on these so first drop is limited numbers only.

Vans Syndicate x Civilist

This weekend (Saturday 26th July) we have an exclusive release of a special edition set of collaborative shoes.

Vans Syndicate have again teamed up with Berlin's iconic Civilist skate shop to rework three of the California brand’s most iconic silhouettes. Getting the exclusive treatment are the Era Pro, the Slip-On and the Sk8-Mid Notchback, all united by a 'Flaschen' (thats 'bottle') print with a less-than-subtle nod to Berlin's beery heritage.

Go here to shop the collection (product live Saturday 26.07.14 9am)

You can trust a fellow skate store to get a collaboration bang on point and these shoes are all way more than just that drinky print. All three utilise a rich orange colour as a contrast to the black and white pallet, dressed with bright orange waffle soles and Vans tabs. They also all have premium Vans Ultracush HD inner soles (with a printed Berlin outline in orange). The Era pro has two-toned printed uppers in canvas and Ripstop and a padded tongue. The Slip-On also has a leather ankle support to stop them... slipping-off. The Sk8-Mid Notchback is constructed from cotton, Ripstop, suede and leather uppers; a really deluxe shoe. They also have a leather tab on the tongue (again featuring the outline of Berlin) and really decent flash of print on the heel panel.

We got the chance to go and see the shoes being launched at Civilist last week and had a lot of fun soaking them all in.

Snow Peak; Tradition, Craft and Legacy

Cutting right to the very centre of their history, their product range and even their ideology; the Snow Peak brand are producers of the very highest quality hardware designed to compliment your pursuit of the great outdoors. In their own words they "look to manufacturer with such high quality standards that you'll pass them on to the next generation like a great wrist watch". You can achieve quite some sense of fulfilment from something as simple as making a coffee in the wilderness. The new range of hardware that they have produced wont just aid this, it is just the kind of thing you want to hold onto.

Snow Peak's journey began in 1958, when their founder Yukio Yamai, an accomplished mountaineer, created his own line of superior gear out of the dissatisfaction with available products. They keep this in their minds when sitting down at the drawing board to create their next piece of outdoor gear. It's pretty simple really, just ensure it is superior.

Snow Peak's employees are unified by a common goal: to be the world’s leading manufacturer of exceptional natural lifestyle products. We'll leave it to you to judge, but we're pretty sold.
