Fit Guide : Dickies Trousers

Remaining one of the best established workwear manufacturers since 1922, every design by Dickies is defined by its cut, quality and construction. Super versatile and suiting both casual and smart occasions, features like wide belt loops, metal fastenings and the famous horseshoe emblem can be found throughout and promote the brands famous reputation for high grade, durable finishes. Seeing as these defining details run throughout it can be hard to differentiate each style, so we’ve designed a visual guide to help break down the differences in fit between each style.

Dickies 872 Slim Work Trousers

Coinciding with up and coming trends of more refined casual streetwear looks, the Dickies 872 Slim Work Trousers are one of the brands most popular silhouettes and are available in a selection of versatile, muted tones. Offering a slightly tailored look with a slim, tapered fit that sits below the waist, two slanted entrance pockets sit on either side with a zippered fly in between secured by a hook and eye fastening. Running vertically down either leg, ironed creases promote a refined finish whilst two short seam details can be found on the reverse, positioned above either horizontal waist pocket. In comparison to the Dickies 803 and 873 styles, these sit in between and offer a modern silhouette with straight cut hems that allow the fabric to be rolled to suit. Wear with a t-shirt and blazer style jacket if you’re looking to smarten up everyday combinations.

Dickies 873 Slim Straight Work Trousers

Cut to a slightly wider fit in comparison to previously discussed styles, the Dickies 873 Slim Straight Work Trousers have a 17.5” leg opening but with a straight leg as opposed to tapered. Complementing the baggy but slim fit which ensures plenty of space for movement, the polyester cotton twill blend has an additional Scotchgard stain release coating that works to repel water and most stains. For SS19 more experimental colourways and two tone stripe designs demonstrated the versatility of the silhouette, which is available within both trousers and shorts. For this season, the strong rust colourway offers an old school ‘70s vibe that works well with both simple and patterned tops - try it with a crisp white cotton t-shirt such as the Dickies Denniston Fleece Sweatshirt in black for a relaxed take on wearing new season fleece and finish with a pair of Converse shoes.

Cut with a noticeably straighter silhouette, the Dickies Original 874 Trousers are the ultimate classic workwear and everyday style that captures the essence of the brands established design character. Like all Dickies trousers, the quality of the construction is second to none and the shape portrays subtle ‘50s vibes through a structured straight leg and slim fit. Selected for its crease resistant properties, a durable polyester cotton blend with a stain release finish works to prevent blemishes throughout time, keeping the finish of these trousers looking sharp. In addition to two slanted entrance compartments on the front, two welt pockets on the reverse sit neatly below short pleat details, accompanied by a Dickies horseshoe logo label which symbolises a distinguished high standard. The 874’s look great with rolled cuffs to show a coloured sock or left as they are over the top of hi-tops or Nike SB Janoski styles.

Dickies 894 Industrial Work Trousers

Fit Guide : Dickies 894 Trousers | Flatspot

As part of the Dickies ‘67 collection the 894 Industrial Work Trousers are a skate-specific style defined by a selection of features that have been engineered to withstand repetitive stretch, abrasion and movement. Designed to ergonomically conform to the natural shape of the body, the durable mechanical flex stretch twill fabric enables a full range of movement, and reinforced stitching at the seams, belt loops and crotch adds further strength that prevents rips and tears. Sitting below the waist with a slim fit through the seat and thigh, the straight leg shape results in a super crisp finish with a leg opening of 16”. Available in both shorts and trouser styles, narrower belt loops adorn the waistband and a straight pleat runs vertically down the front of either leg. A go-to style for year-round skating, we recommend going with a layered shirt and tee combination for this style for an easy going look - a printed cotton shirt for summer and brushed flannel for winter.

Arriving for autumn/winter ‘19 in seasonally appropriate fine wale cotton corduroy dyed to rich earthy tones, the Dickies Cloverport Work Trousers fit similarly to the 873 Slim Straight Work Trousers with a straight leg and slim cut. Pairing well with heavyweight fleece sweatshirts such as the Dickies Mount Sherman Crewneck Sweatshirt or the vibrant Patagonia Lightweight Synch Snap-T Pullover Sweatshirt - Cedar Mesa Big: New Navy to suit the design’s old school vibes. The use of heavyweight corduroy also has a silicon wash treatment which reduces pilling, encourages elasticity and has a soft comfortable finish. Featuring typical details of the brand, the Cloverport Work Trousers have wide belt loops, slanted entrance side compartments on the front and two welt pockets on the reverse. Never ones to sacrifice quality over style, this new addition remains true to Dickies quality focused ethos whilst also tapping into easy-fit cord trends that bring additional character to everyday styles.
