As part of the collaborative Ray Barbee range, there is a killer OG Emerald colourway offered in the Half Cab Pro style, which is constructed with solid suede uppers. Influenced by Ray’s impact within the skate scene in the early 90s, thanks to his innovative skating technique, this shoe’s silhouette is a heritage style. Modern skate inspired technology has been added throughout including high wear areas that have had Duracap reinforcement treatment and UltraCush HD sock liners which provide additional support from high levels of impact. The tongue and outer side panel have white custom Half Cab illustrated labels, with blue embroidery. The classic vans rubber tab that is placed on the heel tab and the iconic waffle grip sole has had a blue makeover especially for this release. Also exclusive to this range, there is a two tone elephant repeat print graphic used throughout the lining which is a nod towards Barbee’s friend Salman Agah. Crisp white top stitching border the construction panels and crisp white cotton laces complete the shoe.
Ray Barbee has been a part of the Vans family since 1989, his appearance in Stacy Peralta’s ‘Ban This’ 1989 documentary alongside Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain and Steve Caballero created hype around Barbee’s fluid and innovative skate style. The newest release of two new styles in collaboration with Ray draws inspiration from the earlier days of skating, blended with up to date Vans footwear technology that improve wear, comfort and durability. We’re stoked to see another Ray Barbee collaboration on offer, especially since Transworld Magazine awarded Barbee with the Legend Award in 2017.
