Desert Ore, Royal Blue, Dark Powder Blue

Incorporating colour tones inspired by the University of North Carolina and signature skate-focused details, a new wear-away desert ore design has been revealed across a Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low which pays homage to legendary pro skateboarder Lance Mountain and his part in the 1987 Powell Peralta ‘The Search for Animal Chin’ skate video where he can be seen wearing two different coloured Nike Hi-Top Jordans on either foot.

Both the left and right shoe have been built with the same features such as elongated Swoosh ticks on either side of the foot, a cotton lace fastening and mesh linings whilst UNC inspired powder blue edging can be seen on the right shoe and royal blue and black accents on the left. Each section has been built with wear away canvas including the back of the heel where a printed Air Jordan wings logo will be revealed overtime. Woven Nike SB labels wrap around the top edge of the tongue coloured in tones to suit each individual colourway. Catered towards wear for skateboarding, lightweight cushioning has been added in the form of a Zoom Air sockliner which is enhanced by a distinctive multicoloured design taken from a scene within The Search for Animal Chin’ where Lance Mountain and the team can be seen riding a handball wall. A layered cupsole sits underfoot with a split white textured midsection and multidirectional tread that has been coloured to suit either shoe. Allowing you to customise the look further, additional black and powder blue cotton laces are included with each pair

Although not directly involved in the design process this time around, this Air Jordan 1 Low was first seen worn by Eric Koston during the NBA KIA Tip-Off in October and demonstrated the wear-away finish across desert ore canvas uppers which had started to customise to his own abrasion pattern around the front of the foot. 2019 has seen a whole host of collaborations from Nike SB with the likes of Soulland, by Parra, Polar Skate Co. and Oskar Rozenberg for pro models and special edition footwear that capture the brands creativity and innovative design style. This year has also been the 10th anniversary of Nike SB’s partnership with Stefan Janoski whose original self-named shoe changed the face of skate footwear forever and continues to challenge the market with each new release.
