Arriving as part of Converse’s Renew range, these CTAS 70’s Ox Renew Shoes have black and white patterned uppers made from a blend of polyester with cotton canvas offcuts. The recycled cotton laces are held in place by silver metal eyelets which sit upon a curved tongue made from the same material as the uppers. Additional eyelets can be seen on the inner side panels which encourage ventilation. For a high level of durability an egret coloured toe cap sits at the front of the shoe and underneath an additional textured panel wraps around the front of the toes as part of the layered outsole. On the back of the heel a monochrome heel stamp shows signature ‘Converse Chuck Taylor All Star’ branding above added ‘Renew’ lettering.
The uppers of this unique pair of Converse Renew shoes have been created through a three step process that firstly includes collecting fabric waste before shredding and mixing yarns together for a final spinning and weaving process. Demonstrating their efforts to become more sustainable in their manufacturing process without neglecting the classic look of Converse footwear, the Renew line is set to continue to raise awareness for the environmental impact the industry has.
