At Flatspot we stock a selection of headwear styles which offer a purposeful extension to key trends, which for SS19 include ‘90s influence typography, bright solid colour pops and new performance inspired fabrics incorporated across staple 5 panel and 6 panel silhouettes. Originally designed to shield sports players’ eyes from the sun, cap structures have changed very little since the accessories inception and a mix of eras are prevalent throughout modern releases, from more relaxed unstructured designs to various peak shapes.

Embroidery remains the application of choice for signature logos, whilst experimental fabric treatments such as acid wash and tie dye from Polar Skate Co. and the Quiet Life tap into prominent trend influences hailing back to casual ‘90s styling. Bucket hats have been reworked with all over print designs and Nike SB have favoured reversible construction on their Big Leaf Print Bucket Hat which allows an island-style pattern to be revealed when the mood suits. Mesh panelling and lightweight nylon has been selected

by Carhartt WIP across their Terrace Cap styles to portray activewear vibes, and Patagonia have brought their purposeful design style to the Wavefarer Bucket Hat, made from 100% nylon treated with a durable water repellent finish and built-in 50 UPF sun protection. A highlight of the latest Alltimers collection includes a foldable 5 panel cap featuring stylised contrast typography, designed to be tucked into a pocket when not in use.

Forever fit for purpose whilst being a key year round accessory favoured by most, knitted beanie hats remain relevant throughout the year and shapes vary from brand to brand. Butter Goods have opted for a more compact rounded crown with a wide rollover cuff and woven brand labels, whilst Fisherman and Skate Beanies from Nike SB are taller with a tighter knit pattern. Single colour designs have been selected to play into popular colour block trends and make it easy to introduce different tones to everyday ensembles.
