Wear Test: Vans Gilbert Crockett
The Vans signature Gilbert Crockett silhouette is a low profile skate shoe cut in suede and canvas, its designed to be skated. To that end, Pete from the Flatspot warehouse took a set out for a wear test.
* Sizing / Comfort - 8/10 True to size - but a nice snug fit, not too narrow and not too wide. Padded tongue provided added comfort to a otherwise lightly cushioned inner. * Break in time - 9/10 No break in time. Good to go straight out the box (really). Flick was on point straight away, could do all my usual flip tricks but with almost strange consistency. * Board feel / support - 9/10 The vulc sole comes with added support (Ultracush) which feels super sturdy if your into jumping down stuff, but this doesn't subtract from board feel. The Waffle sole provides that premium grip vans are known for and felt suitably grippy. No complaints. * Durability - 7/10 Skated for approximately 4/5 hours on a pretty much brand new board/grip. Mostly playing s.k.a.t.e and skating block. For the amount of flip tricks done the shoe held it down, no laces lost, minor abrasion. * Conclusion - 9/10 Awesome skate shoe - outstanding all rounder. Well done Gilbert and vans. We salute you.
