Running with Patagonia
Over the last few months we've been really into running. Not necessarily actually heading out and doing it, but thinking about it and all the awesome kit we could use if we did decide to just start running. that enough has made us feel pretty good about ourselves.
The technological enhancements of some of the new clothing are amazing. The new Patagonia Strider Pro Shorts allow you to carry what you need for a full day of mountain running thanks to four overlapping, stretchy-mesh back hip pockets (two on each side). Let that sink in... a full day of running... mountain or not. The card-sized center-back pocket closes securely with a zipper and the pockets lie flat and wonât flap when empty, but expand generously to hold everything from energy gels to a Houdini® Jacket. Just imagine being the sort of person who buys energy gels.
The Long Sleeved Fore Runner Shirt is fast-drying and made of a lightweight recycled polyester with completely breathable Air Flow mesh. It has all sorts of smart extras like no tags for itch-free comfort (we're aware that this is not so much an added extra but an added reduction...) and minimal seam construction to avoid chafe. As we're going to town here it also includes 15-UPF sun protection, Polygiene® permanent odor control, reflective logos on the chest and neck, and a convenient locker loop for drying out.
Many of these features are covered by the Strider Pro shorts that are also created in a shell fabric treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. If anyone asks you about your new shorts, be ready to tell them "the higher split opening eliminates leg chafe and promotes air flow..."
